Are you having some concern as to what your modular floor plan needs to consist of? After all, it’s going to be your next HOME! This is not like picking out a pair of shoes I know. There are thousands of custom modular floor plans available to you. (For Free)
Think about where you live now. What do you like about the floor plan you live in now? What do you dislike about the plan? Do you want more cabinet space in your kitchen? A larger closet? More storage space? What would you like in the master bathroom? Where are the kids going to hang out?
When choosing a new modular floor plan, one important thing to remember is to get the square footage that your family needs. We can always add things later like hardwood flooring, granite, tile, and other upgrades. We cannot change the floor plan. (Well, not without a lot of cost anyway) So – remember to get the square footage your family needs in your custom modular floor plan.
A good modular builder can work with almost any floor plan you bring them. They can also take the plan they already offer and customize it to fit your families needs. So – relax, think, and don’t knee jerk. (Been there and learned!)

I have had this question asked to me twice this week. Are modular homes as “energy efficient” as stick built homes? The answer my friends is YES. They are built greener and more times than not, they are much more energy efficient than the traditional on-site built homes. Modular home construction uses LESS energy thus generating a lot less pollution during the building process and after you move in. They don’t take 6 months to a year to finish either. Custom modular homes take on average 90 days! Are they saving money and helping the environment because of this? ahhhh – yes! Gas, fuel, exhaust, and noise pollution just to name a few. Below are some reasons WHY modular homes are built greener and more energy efficient:
- 2×6 wall construction 16″ on center creating more wall space for thicker insulation values
- Energy seal between floors and walls
- Exterior walls are wrapped with O.S.B. sheathing and house wrap (none of that black board that we can put our fist through)
- Engineered roof trusses with R-38 insulation in the ceiling
- High efficiency low E windows
- Programmable thermostats
